SeaWise has no account, no advertising, and no tracking of any kind. There is no SeaWise server that knows who you are.
Where you are lookingThe latitude and longitude of the spot on screen, sent to the forecast providers so they can answer for that place. Whether that is where you are standing depends on whether you used GPS or picked a spot yourself.
What you type into searchSent to Open-Meteo's place search and, when that finds nothing, to Apple Maps.
Feedback, only when you send itThe message you write, the email address if you give one, and the app version, iOS version and device model — enough to reproduce a bug. Nothing else goes with it: not your location, not your saved spots, not your boat. It goes to a small endpoint of ours and is forwarded to us by email.
Requests go to NOAA, the National Weather Service, Open-Meteo, USGS, WebCOOS · SECOORA, Caltrans, the GitHub Pages site that serves SeaWise's radar images, and — only if you send feedback — our own endpoint on Cloudflare. They are listed under Data sources. Nothing else is sent, and nothing identifies you — no account, no device identifier, no advertising ID.
Your saved spots and settingsKept on the phone. Never uploaded.
Cached forecasts and station listsKept on the phone so the app opens with something when you are offline.
Your alert rulesKept on the phone. Alerts are worked out on the device — there is no server deciding what to send you, which is also why they need the app to run occasionally.
No analyticsSeaWise does not measure which screens you open, how long you use it, or what you tap. There is no analytics library in the app.
No advertising or profilingNo ads, no ad identifier, no profile of you, nothing sold or shared with data brokers.
No third-party trackersNo Facebook, Google, or similar SDKs are embedded.
Purchases are handled by Apple. SeaWise is told whether a subscription is active and nothing else — never your name, your card, or your Apple account.
Location is used to find the nearest water with a forecast, and to keep the app on the water you are at. You can refuse it and use search or a dropped pin instead — the app works either way. iOS controls the permission; change it in the Settings app.
SeaWise is for adults. It is not directed to children, and because it has no account and collects nothing that identifies anyone, it does not knowingly collect personal information from a child.
